Intermediate Piano Concerto Competition: Winner

Matthew Reichenberger is 12 years old and has been playing the piano for over 7 years. In the five past years, Matthew has won numerous awards in piano and composition including first place in the Florida Federations of Music Club State (FFMC) Competition in solo, duet, concerto, and composition events. Most recently, Matthew was the first place winner in the PompanoBeach Piano Competition in the Advanced I category. In 2009, he was the first place winner in the State Concerto Competition in the Junior division. Matthew was also nominated for the Irene Muir Award in the Piano Concerto event in the FFMC State Competition in 2008. He's performed on WXEL radio, and has appeared on WLRN- TV's American Ideal program with his brother. Matthew studies piano and music theory with Maria Gomez.

Besides Matthe'w's passion for piano, he also loves improvising and composing. Since 2006 he has won first place and second place in the FFMC State Competition. His "The Triumph" won the Incentive Award in the NFMC in 2008. In 2010, his "Mystic Falls" won first place in the FFMC composition competition. Matthew studies composition with Donald Waxman.

Matthew loves all kinds of sports. His favorite sports to watch are ice hockey and football. He enjoys playing tennis and street hockey with his brother and loves to read books about history.
